blog / May 21 2018

Everyone sometimes feels like they just need an hour or two to themselves, whether this comes from work-related stress or your personal life. It can be very beneficial to sit down with a book or a pair of headphones and just being able to breathe and think. This helps you to reflect on your day, a certain issue you may be conflicted with or it could simply boost your creativity and positivity.

We have found the 5 most peaceful places in London to visit for some peace and quiet when you need it:

Kew Gardens – Botanical Garden London

This botanical garden has the ‘largest and most diverse botanical and mycological collections in the world’ so you are bound to be impressed and relaxed instantly.

The Daunt Book Store in Marylebone

This bookstore in the Marylebone is set in an old Edwardian style, with oak galleries and long shelves full of incredible literature. Bring the book you have been wanting to read all these weeks or find one while you are there, and just spent two hours in this beautiful store and enjoy your chosen book and the atmosphere of every good bookstore.

Barbican Centre

The Barbican Centre has some wonderfully peaceful places to visit, starting from the indoor tropical conservatory, the music library and the high walkways. Come here early in the morning, and you will not be disappointed. You will find some very quiet and calm moments in a busy city such as London, let your mind wander and enjoy the tranquillity.

Lindley Library London near Victoria

If a book store or the barbican centre is still too noisy for you, visit this wonderfully quaint library near Victoria to enjoy complete peace and calm away from the rush going outside. Try and get some work done, listen to a podcast or just have a look through the literature the library has to offer.

Kyoto Garden – Holland Park

For complete and utter tranquillity come and enjoy the beautifully Japanese-style inspired garden with peacocks, a waterfall and some koi fish. Take in the nature around you and enjoy a stroll through the beauty of this garden to feel a sense of total peace. The garden expects visitors to respect the calm, so if that is what you are looking for, come visit the Kyoto Garden in the Holland Park and let your mind take you away for a short while.

Whichever destination is the right fit for you enjoy it as much as you can and allow yourself at least one day a month to yourself so you can just relax and leave your everyday stress behind you. Who knows maybe you will discover or learn something you never knew about.
