Get more Sleep

This can sound like a catch-22 situation as stress tends to interrupt sleep. But lack of sleep is also a significant cause of stress.  So it is important to break this cycle by taking action to get more sleep. Read our blog article on tips to get more sleep.

Talk to someone

Just talking to someone can make a real difference. Often this is a good distraction from worries and helps your body relax and recover.

Sometimes when stressed you don’t think as clearly and talking through decisions with friends and family is a sensible precaution to avoid poor actions.

Talking with a trained professional such as with Mynurva, can help you find solutions to you stress and put any problems into perspective. Many people also find speaking to someone who is not at their work, family or friendship group is helpful when stress is becoming a major issue.

Learn to say “No”

Stress often happens when there is too much to do and not enough time to do it in, or when tasks you could do quickly before are now taking longer.

There is no reason to say “yes” to everything, and saying “no” does not mean you are not being helpful – it may simply mean you have no time.

Reduce or avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol

Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants and will increase levels of stress and not reduce them. Alcohol is the same in small quantities but become a depressant in larger quantities and will not help with stress either.

It is better to keep hydrated with natural fruit juices, water or herbal teas.
