Try taking a break for five minutes

Written by Mynurva | April 16 2018

When was the last time you took a 5 minute break? For many, we may not even remember. But sometimes it is so important to just take a step back and focus on yourself.

We’re constantly catching up on emails, social media and it can be so easy to get distracted with daily tasks.

Focusing on well being and being mindful of our actions and what we do can really impact how we feel. But, you may wonder, how exactly do I begin?

From tips to well being guides, there are many ways we can relax and focus on ourselves. One undervalued technique is meditation – this can be one daily and requires minimum time. Read more on how you can get started here.

Why should I meditate?

I know some of you may be thinking, why meditation? Well, it turns out meditation has endless benefits.
For example:

  • Increases focus
  • Reduces stress
  • Can improve sleep
  • Help with improving attention span
  • Increase productivity within the workplace

Although you may think you don’t have time to take a break, just closing your eyes, taking a deep breath in and then out. Simply repeat this for about 5 minutes a day and you will feel a greater improvement in your overall mind and conscious.

Best time to meditate

For those who are unsure where you can even fit in 5 minutes, there is no need to worry. Meditation can be done at home, at work, on your break and even whilst commuting.

Meditation does not have to mean you are practicing yoga! It simply requires you to be mindful of your thoughts with some soothing background music or just peace and quiet.

This can be easily done whilst working and there is no need to close your eyes. So, no reason to stop you, right?

For example, sometimes of the day you could get started are:

  • Meditate every morning before you get ready for work
  • Before you go bed
  • When you get a moment on a lunch break
  • When commuting to and from work

There should be no reason for why you can’t take even 5 minutes to reflect on your thoughts and take a break everyday. Once you feel the benefits from the first time, it will become a part of your routine!
